Silvia Moretti believes some dreams are better kept to yourself until you make them happen. Her superstition is to never say her dreams out loud, a mindset that fits a basketball journey that has already taken her from Naples, Italy, to The Winchendon School and Goldey-Beacom College before bringing her to Vincennes University. One moment she will always remember came much earlier in that journey, when she helped her team win a 3x3 championship at 14 years old.
The 6-foot-2 forward chose VU because she believes the program can help her build confidence on the court while competing within an environment that feels like family. Silvia enters the season with the goal of becoming a more confident player while helping the Trailblazers compete for a championship. She would also like to improve her passing and court vision and says her family serves as her biggest source of motivation. If given the opportunity to break any record, she would choose a rebounding record, while the best basketball advice she has received reminds her to focus on the rim rather than worrying about the defender in front of her.
Away from basketball, Silvia is studying Legal Studies with plans to become a sports lawyer or agent. She enjoys listening to Noah Kahan, watching soccer and spending time with friends, and she would love to attend a FIFA World Cup match someday. Her favorites include pizza, Forrest Gump and basketball player Azzi Fudd, while Japan sits at the top of her travel list. Silvia describes herself as outgoing, even though she admits she often gets nervous about things before realizing afterward there was little reason to worry. If she were coach for a day, she would make time to give each player an individual speech to ensure every teammate knew how much they were appreciated.
